From Sonairte
November's Farmer's Market was once again a resounding success. It is starting to look like the market will become a regular event in the New Year at Sonairte. We are very pleased with it's popularity as it embodies many of the aims of the centre. Fresh healthy food (especially the organic produce), energy efficiency (lower food transport miles), supporting local business and enriching the community spirit. It is for this reason that Sonairte exists - not only to raise awareness but to demonstrate that a sustainable way of life is not only possible, but that it is more beneficial. We look forward to seeing you down at the market in January. Until then, enjoy those sprouts.
The farmer's market is a place where local growers and food producers can sell directly to the public. By cutting out the middle man the aim is that this market will be competitive with supermarket prices and provide consumers (that's you) with an opportunity to buy the finest quality local produce at reasonable prices. The market will be limited initially to local grower's and local food producers. If you like the idea then get down and support it. See you there.
